Suken, apparently the issue stems from the lack of 4 plane
modes in the supported (in the video bios) modes. I'm looking
into adding support for 1 plane modes.

yep.it could load the VESA modes excellently after the patch.
but get the same results as Greg! and any ideas to let C_PIXEL_MODE
kernel configuration option to work well?
