Try defining the PATH in the crontab file.  Here's the first 2 lines of=20
my crontab file:

SHELL=3D/bin/sh
PATH=3D/var/cron/tabs:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin
