hehe ;)  ok, i'll reconsider ...

well, they catch many things that are ok with browsers
(like <IMG> in <PRE> blocks), and don't necessarily
catch the exact problem, though a problem there
may be.  but in general, they can tell you if something
is perfect or not.  but "perfect" to a validator doesn't
necessarily mean a good web page, and "error found ..."
doesn't necessarily mean it isn't OK with all browsers.

i just try lynx and netscape, and if it looks ok
with those, it's "valid" HTML to me ...  but it's
good to know the rules also.

my favorite is 'Abort, Retry, or Fail'.
since 1986, it's almost always takes me a
few keystrokes to get by that one  ...  ;)
(hehe - do i want it to Abort or Fail ???)
