That will probabably work - there shouldn't be any 'weird filenames' in ports. I'd recommend find /home/ncvs/ports -type f \( -perm -100 -o -perm -010 -o -perm \ -001 \) -print0 | xargs -0 chmod -x The important thing is the -print0 and xargs -0 to use zero-termination, not the minor optimization of checking the original permissions.
