The printer is an HP Photosmart 9180, connected to ulpt0, which cannot be toggled online/offline. The printer is designed to remain on full time, and has maintenance routines that it goes through every 24 hrs. If you turn it off and then turn it back on again it goes through a long set of diagnostic routines. I'm not sure how to avail myself of the lpstat program, but I shall read the man pages and see what I can come up with. Rem
