Just jumping in here, my other isp has a program/script they call 'givemotd'. It just concatenates & displays the motd on demand. I run it and pipe it to 'more'. I suppose the mac/ms-windows users can just scroll back the buffer to read the motd. (I wouldn't know) Their motd (my backup provider) is always several screens long, it just flys by.
