It's produced by the University of California, Berkeley's Computer Systems Research Group, which is now defunct. FreeBSD is a port of the 4.4BSD code to the i386 platform, in essence. It's not runnable except on a VAX, maybe, but is interesting for observation. Walnut Creek can probably direct you to a source release of 4.4BSD, if you really want it. > P.S.
