Hmm..
1) INSTALLS_SHLIB and LDCONFIG_DIRS defined, so ldconfig will be runned.
2) 
Default ldconfig_paths on my system ($FreeBSD: src/etc/defaults/rc.conf,v 1.269 2005/12/20 20:36:48 dougb Exp $):
/usr/lib/compat /usr/X11R6/lib /usr/local/lib /usr/local/lib/compat/

does you change it?

3) What about install Opera, which uses shared QT, but compilled for FreeBSD 5 or FreeBSD 6
