What about an additional knob in make.conf to enable/disable the afterinstall: target in secure/lib/libcrypt/Makefile? Then people like me, can just disable it and get md5 passwords and still get openssh and the rest of the crypto stuff. At the moment I just change afterinstall: to noafterinstall: in secure/lib/libcrypt/Makefile. Mabe call it USE_MD5PASSWORDS or NO_DESPASSWORDS or something?
