you may have to play with the first part in /etc/inetd.conf, 'ident'.

/etc/services:
-----
auth            113/tcp    ident tap    #Authentication Service
auth            113/udp    ident tap    #Authentication Service
-----

/etc/inetd.conf:
-----
auth    stream  tcp     wait    root    /usr/local/sbin/identd  identd -w -t120 -l 
-----

note the listing in /etc/services is different than the default identd
'example' listing in /etc/inetd.conf.
