So I tried alphalinux JDK-1.1.3 using Drew's linulator, and I have good news!
I was able to compile and run a simple "hello world" program! Very promising.
If you want to play with it, you'll need to change .java_wrapper to invoke
/usr/local/bin/bash instead of /bin/sh, and stick a relevant classes.zip in
the lib dir of your java tree. I haven't yet been able to try any programs
that use awt, since we need libXm.so for that. I'll try copying over the lib
from my alphalinux partition, but first I need some sleep. After all, it's
5am.

Cheers,
-Mark

Good job, Drew!
