My machine at home also crash(ed) regularly (like several times a day) after a recent kernel build. Did the sysctl magic and now its been up for 9 days. I don't have any panic messages 'cos its my X machine, but I think its fair to say that its related. This is a SMP machine, if that has any relevance.
