Try appending DisplayManager*authName: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 to /usr/local/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-config and restart xdm and your session. = That disables the XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 authentication which, in my case, = solved the problem.
