I installed Darwin 1.3.1 + XFree86 4.1.0 + WindowMaker 0.64 on my PowerMac G4 this weekend. installation was quick and painless. startedf the installer selected a drive/partition and it basically copied a image of a working Darwin machine onto the partition. i was up in less than 5 minutes. Had to sert up the networking and stuff manually. still learning where everything is. Darwin is impressive. A bit unresponsive in my opinion. i have not been successful in getting multiple desktops on Darwin. X run slowish. almost looks as if it is not taking advantage of the hardware. when you exit X, the screen does not clear but the keyboard does still work. Windowmaker works as normal, but as you can understand with the mac having only one button right clicking and middle clicking is a bit hard to do. Compiling of WindowMaker was painless. just with libProplist i had to specify FreeBSD as the host. So all in all i'm impressed so far, but performance is a bit sluggish compared to other distros. Also bootup takes much longer than a normal FreeBSD bootup, and you can't see the freakin' status of bootup.
