For the console, add: keymap=3D"uk.iso" to /etc/rc.conf -- that will make sure you get the correct keyboard map after rebooting. You can set the keymap manually by: # kbdcontrol < /dev/ttyv0 -l uk.iso Look at /etc/defaults/rc.conf for many more examples of configuration settings. Nb. That covers just the console interface -- you need some separate configuration to set the keymap correctly for X-windows. Edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, changing the keyboard's 'InputDevice' section to something like the sollowing: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "keyboard" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "gb" EndSection See also setxkbmap(1).
