I've been supplied with the answer. /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers needs to have -depth 24 -xf86config /etc/X11/XF86Config (or whatever) added to the last line which reads :0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X hawk -- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
