This is where your problem lies. For routing, you need an addressing scheme. If it was a end-to-end connection, with no intervening cross connections (ie. a wire instead of one piece of a network) then you're fine. Remember that when the phone company did a T1, they either did a single end-to-end connection, or had a "phone number" type tag on it so that the switching office knew where the connection was going to and coming from.
