Exactly.

The comment attached to revision 1.16 in the port Makefile's CVS log seems to
indicate that it's been some time since the listed maintainer was active.

... but that was even longer ago, if I'm reading things correctly.

I've received no bounce from <nntpcache@nntpcache.org>, so let's see if I
(we) get a response.

In the meantime, I'm working on bringing the port up to date and up to (what
I hope will pass for :-) our current standards.
