You may have to roll-your-own kernel boot command WRT flags and devices, but AFAIK, the install kernel that RH uses is GENERIC, so it should work from MILO, assuming the MILO is recent enough. [NOTE: by "recent enough", I mean that the MILO is known to be able to boot a recent kernel that was NOT configured to be built at the "legacy start address".] > However if you are wanting to switch to SRM/aboot, you will have to > get rid of the Adaptec. Only if you require booting from the Adaptec. Here's a guide for the SRM consoles that will support Adaptec for boot devices: 1. LX and SX with 5.8 firmware (their last) 2. DS10/DS20/ES40/XP1000 with 5.9 firmware (their latest) If your machine is not in this list, assume its SRM will NOT work with Adaptec for boot devices. --Jay++ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jay A Estabrook Alpha Engineering - LINUX Project Compaq Computer Corp. - MRO1-2/K20 (508) 467-2080 200 Forest Street, Marlboro MA 01752 Jay.Estabrook@compaq.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________ Axp-list mailing list Axp-list@redhat.com https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/axp-list To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-alpha" in the body of the message
