There are different versions of Samba in the ports tree, so I think there are also different packages, e. g. try # pkg_add -r samba34 This should give you the latest version, 3.4. There's also 3, 3.2 and 3.3 available (same naming scheme for the package). Anyway, check if you can connect to (or just ping) ftp.freebsd.org to make sure - REALLY SURE - that a connection is possible. PS.
