Have a look at the differences between the two sendmail.cf files?
Perhaps something at this

Cwlocalhost
# file containing names of hosts for which we receive email
Fw-o /etc/mail/local-host-names

Another name for the file (sendmail.cw)? Another location (/etc or
/etc/mail)?
