 "fi" and "fl" render with the Fira shipped in x11-fonts (Konsole,
 Qt-based, in the background, and Leafpad, GTK-based, in the foreground).
 It doesn't happen in all applications, though -- Emacs and lxterminal
 render those sequences just fine.
