If it is ZFS, then the only exotic factor on my system is an external USB
one-terabyte drive (WDC WD10EZEX-08WN4A0), formatted with GPT and one ZFS
partition, that seems to take a variable amount of time to come on line at
power up.  I theorized at one point that tasting that drive at an unpredict=
able
time was a factor in the crash.  Your mileage may vary.
