I have to thank everyone for the postings for it's being archived while I'm beginning the new paperback I just bought "A Quarter Century of UNIX" by Peter Salus. I cannot tell you the caution I urge to anyone to who gets too comfortable with the mouse clicking installs of Linux etc, I've been having a sheer battle all night here with the Solaris-8 distro (work related project) and long for just the knowledge of "HALF OF WHAT YOU THREE HAVE FORGOTTEN" about Unix. I think a UNIX boot camp is needed somewhere, somehow, to really make people appreciate what the experienced Unix users have had to go through to get where we have got to today. I have gained much more respect for the old Unix people each and every time I log into a new Unix distro. I don't know how I'm typing this letter, for after my struggles tonight trying to splice Pine and Fetchmail into Solaris-8 I've been reduced from 6'-2" to about '2-6".
