BTW, there is no need to do that. All I had to do is the following: - automake configure.in > configure (never trust in it :) - ./configure --the-usual-switches LIBS=-lutil And that's it. Of course the program itself doesn't compile on RELENG_5_0 (and I wouldn't think it compiles on RELENG_4 anyways), but that's another story...
