Greetings all: I have the following configuration: Dell Poweredge 2450 2x600EB Pentium III Adaptec AIC-7899 Ultra 160/m SCSI host adapter 1x9Gb and 2x18GB Seagate Cheetah disks (10000 RPM) Red Hat Linux 6.1, Kernel 2.2.14-3smp conf.modules as installed by dell reads: alias eth0 eepro100 alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc ---------------------------------------------- The problem is the following: Using a simple utility we call "bonnie", which first writes and then reads a 1 GB file from each disk, I have observed that the write speeds are only about 2 MB/sec. Read speeds are OK at about 20 MB/sec. I have tried to put in options like aic7xxx=ultra and it only made it worse. Steve Timm ---------------------------------------------------- The output from dmesg follows below: (scsi0) <Adaptec AIC-7899 Ultra 160/m SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 4/0 (scsi0) Wide Channel A, SCSI ID=7, 32/255 SCBs (scsi0) Downloading sequencer code... 385 instructions downloaded (scsi1) <Adaptec AIC-7899 Ultra 160/m SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 4/1 (scsi1) Wide Channel B, SCSI ID=7, 32/255 SCBs (scsi1) Downloading sequencer code... 385 instructions downloaded scsi0 : Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI) 5.1.23/3.2.4 <Adaptec AIC-7899 Ultra 160/m SCSI host adapter> scsi1 : Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI) 5.1.23/3.2.4 <Adaptec AIC-7899 Ultra 160/m SCSI host adapter> scsi : 2 hosts.
