IMO, dhcp is just the kind of server one would expect to come with FreeBSD. But, unfortunately, there are many choices of dhcp out there, and no consensus around which one is best. I think importing a dhcpd will eventually led us to a situation similar to sendmail's present situation (which, btw, is a bad thing :). If we had a "BSD" dhcpd, if one of the popular dhcp daemons out there were developed by one of our committers, then it would make some sense to adopt a particular version. But, as it is, all we would be doing would be imposing our preferences on our users. -- Daniel C. Good luck." jkh: does it really include the 'good luck' part? EE: OK, I made that part up. EE: I figured it should sound a bit more cheery than how Bruce initially dictated it to me.
