I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here, Doug. There *have* been problems with IDE disks with more than 8 GB under 2.X, and they've only just been resolved (after 2.2.7-RELEASE). Jeff, if you have a disk like that, you should upgrade to 2.2-STABLE.
