Of course, people still post to it, mostly because they allow people not on the list to post. I can't say I agree with that, but it's not my list. Unless they started filtering all list mail through something like the RBL, implementing an anti-spam policy is not going to cut down on the amount of spam. As for the purpose of the list, it's intended for newbies to discuss getting used to FreeBSD. Sounds simple enough to me.
