X-URL: http://www.freebsd.org/mailto.html Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-questions@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk I need assistance in a problem... I have recently installed FreeBSD 2.1.0-RELEASE on a SCSI HD. The intentional setup of this computer is for a WWW server... Therefore, when I installed the FreeBSD via FTP. (A Few Hours) :) I noticed that after the setup of the HD through Novice, It refuses to boot. The prompt "Default: F?" keeps appearing with "F1 . . . BSD" above it after hitting F1 several times. I was told that the geometry of the HD was the problem, so I specified the HD to be ENTIRELY for FreeBSD... No partitioning. And reinstalled it over the FTP AGAIN. Now this same problem appears. But the Defaults for the Novice may have interfered with this type of setup... I noticed that the Boot manager is not necessary for this type of operation. I only need FreeBSD on the server as the ONLY operating system... I am told that the boot manager can be removed and then it should boot normally... I really do not wish to re-install this system again... :( I look forward for your reply as urgently as possible. 73's...de...VE7JWK...John.
