Try using 'make cleandir' instead of 'make clean'.  'make clean' does not c=
lean files created by 'make depend' such as the 'machine' and 'x86' symlink=
s.
There is a 'make cleandepend' that will clean up such files, but I tend to =
use 'make cleandir' which does both.
