Log:
Fix reference counting to at least the stage that it doesn't have memory leaks
still got to figure out the in_rmx stuff but my brain is fading.
Ther are a couple of terrible hacks in there which I will clean out later.
Also add yet more comments and fix a few now that I found out more
than I knew when I wrote them.
