I have done something like this in Linux. What I did was write down the cylinders of where each partition began and ended. Once I had this I went and erased the appropriate partition, shaved of the amount of space I needed and reentered the partition info with the info from the new partition added. I used fdisk to do this. It seems like you would need to use disklabel. I would back up all info before attempting just to be safe.
