Oh you can use any editor that deals in plain text for
writing programs. Some of them have some features to help you
(vi, emacs). Best to use one you feel comfortable with.
The argument for using "vi" which wins no prizes for being easy to
learn, is that if you end up working on other Unix systems vi
is always available. But only you know whether that matters or not.
Don't use any word processor type program...in that case it
will almost certainly be "what you see is not what you get".
