            Bug ID: 218234
Summary: [NEW PORT] devel/arduino-avrdude: avrdude with
                    arduino-specific patches
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: freebsd-ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: bsdports@kyle-evans.net
                CC: bsam@FreeBSD.org, mwm@mired.org

The Arduino project maintains patches [1] to avrdude, both related to
configuration and some patches to the source. Additionally, another patch [=
2]
obtained from Mike Meyer <mwm@mired.org> that he in turn obtained elsewhere
that improves reliability of flashing Unos at least.

It's a good idea to go ahead and make a port for this Arduino-specific vers=
ion
because the chance of these patches getting upstream are not huge, given th=
at
they are in fact Arduino-specific. I will be supplying patches to
devel/arduino-{core,tools} within due time to use this patched version.
