I'm surprised you didn't allocate up the rest of the slice at install
time.  Were you expecting to use that 1.3gb for something else?

During install, yes, it would get mad.  But after the fact you shouldn't
have a problem.

from fdisk(8), the sysid for FreeBSD is 165 (0xA5).  

I don't think I put slicing in there, but

the disklabel/newfs step.
