According to the 5.0 HW release note: http://www.freebsd.org/releases/5.0R/hardware-i386.html only the hea and hfa ATM interfaces are supported. In fact, there is a new support for the idt 77211 SAR interfaces (see sys/dev/idt) with the HARP stack.
