I did manage to fix the issue, though! After applying this patch, I finally got Xorg to work with full GPU acceleration on a 1440p eDP display (ASUS UX301LAA laptop)! https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/i915?h=v3.10.10&id=6b9f3486bb756d0aa6c00d7f745c8ca65ff35f07 I would suggest that the maintainer consider that patch and also consider adding PCI IDs for Haswell GT3(,e) to the kernel.
