I load FreeBSD 13.0-Current most weeks, but this week I tried out 12.0-Stable r350476 as I wanted to test my Wiki instructions for installing LXDE. The install started well, I rebooted when asked, and the install of Xorg went well too. The drm-kmod install seemed to go well, and I picked my known and tested amdgpu.ko to list in /etc/rc.conf. At this point I rebooted to check if I got the skeleton X window. The reboot stalled in the video section. Hung. Would not move. I manually turned off the machine and tried two more times. No Go. I went back to FreeBSD downloads, got a copy of FreeBSD 13.0-CURRENT r350491, burned it to a dvd, and installed without a hitch, using my known amdgpu.ko kernel mod video driver. This installation is where I am writing this email This is unscientific, but when I boot every day, and get to the video section and the system finds the driver, I see a few "fuzzy granular lines of noise" that appear in the console right near where it lists my radeon/kabini imbedded video. Actually I like to see this as it tells me my video has been recognized. With my attempted install of 12.0-Stable this DID NOT happen. This bug does not bother me, as I am pretty much into 13.0, but it may be of help to somebody else. Clay Daniels You can see my LXDE Wiki at: https://wiki.freebsd.org/LXDE
