That's the problem, the chipset has the same id although it's design has=20 changed. What does usbdevs -v say? You'll have a line like: USB-Serial Controller(0x2303), Prolific Technology Inc.(0x067b), rev 3.00 Rev. 3.00 ist the latest I have, the former was 2.02.
