I do not mean to be rude, but asking the same people the same
question several times isn't too likely to improve your results.
If nobody responds to a question, it is probably because they
do not know the answer.

When I first moved from FreeBSD to Linux, I had exactly the same
problem as the one you describe.  I asked freebsd-questions (once)
and didn't get any responses that solved the problem.  A friend
who knew his way around the kernel tried to port the Linux
"reboot=bios" method, but we never did get it to work.

I eventually "solved" the problem by upgrading to a Pentium-class
chip and motherboard. :-)
