when you see the initial countdown at boot, hit the spacebar,
then type: "boot -c" then at the next prompt you'll neet to 
type "visual"

after the system is booted, you can use "kget" to retrieve the
changes you made and save them to a file.  look in /boot/ for
the file to add it to.

kget output looks like garbage, but it's really just abbreviated
commands.
