Have you verified that this is working OK?  If it's complaining about
logins, it sounds like the FreeBSD box can't login using user `ftp' which
should be a synonym for `anonymous'.  

Check the Options page in FreeBSD Install, you can tune the username used.

Try hopping over to the debug console (hit ALT-F2) and see exactly what's
reported.

You must have missed the `UFS' install type -- you can install straight
from that other FreeBSD volume.  I think.
