I dug a bit deeper and it's not a boot manager menu entry,
but some signature particular to some tool. I'm not going
to worry about preserving that.

Ok, let's look at those sectors as well. Can you send the
output of:
	dd if=/dev/ad0s7 of=dump.dd count=2 bs=512
