Wow, thanks. I think I can find the data with that hint. My irritation is 
two-fold: At me for trying freebsd-update when it failing was really 
inconvenient. The no rollback across versions makes perfect since. Would be 
a nice addition to the man page. And, at how far we've come from "I won't 
stop you from doing something stupid because ..." I'm not sure that was 
Bill Joy that said that but his name fit best in my dig.
