For anyone interested to know, FreeBSD 6.3 AMD64/i386 appears to support the onboard ESB2 RAID chipset. FreeBSD will recognize all drives in the RAID set and the controller as "ar0"

I've tested this on SuperMicro 5015M-MT+ server:

Chipset Intel 3000 (Mukilteo-2) chipset
ICH7R + PXH-V + IntelR 82573V + IntelR 82573L

Serial ATA IntelR ICH7R SATA controller built-in

I'm not sure if it will work with 5000V chipset though.
