Let me know how it goes. The problem still remains. But it seems the cause is somewhere else. I've also upgraded Xft via portupgrade. Then I had more than 20 make processes until the system couldn't fork anymore. Maybe I ought to upgrade the system to 4.8... -Hanspeter
