Many thanks -- that's exactly what I wanted.

*Should* I have been able to find that piece of information documented 
somewhere? Either way I appreciate your taking the time to answer, but 
I'd just as soon not disturb the people doing the work with questions I 
could find the answers to elsewhere. Searching for 'emacs' in the online 
user's guide and admin's guide didn't find anything.
