As for the xsettings error, check to make sure > gnome-settings-daemon wasn't already running. Its not, a 'ps -auxww | grep gnome' shows nothing. I will try to fix my upgrade and see what that does. I still see icons in /usr/X11R6/share/icons as well, I don't think those should be there.
