I can't remember the particulars, but gnucash (1.8) wasn't happy with a later version, and I couldn't go to 2.X due to some issues with the files I already had. As for the silc issue, looks like someone else ran into it and the Xorg team already has a solution : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=384421 fix is in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13265 Tuc
